Harry Potter Society

I joined the Harry Potter society. I am a big Harry Potter fan. I read all the books in high school and watched all the films so I thought it would be a fun idea. Not to mention, all the other societies were a bit expensive or didn't interest me.
The first time I went, not many people showed except about 4, as well as Kate, Hannah, Chelsea, and I. Due to the fact that not many people showed up that Monday, we ended up watching the sixth Harry Potter film, The Half-Blood Prince. There were snacks for us and the president of the Harry Potter Society club was very funny and easy to get along with. After a long, rainy, cold day, food and a movie was the perfect end to my night. The club is from 7pm to 10 pm and Harry Potter movies are long, so it was the exact amount of time. It rekindled my love for Harry Potter because I hadn't actually watched the movies in awhile. The president of the club was excited that more people were interested in the club and was surprised that we hadn't been forced into the club. I imagine they don't get a lot of people there.
In the Harry Potter society they have a lot of different crafts and activities to do that relate to the series. For example, "potion" night where they just have mixed drinks as well as a horcrux hunt where you hunt for objects. Snacks and drinks are always provided.
We had a night where we made cauldrons for potions. We spent time blowing up balloons, which I'm terrible at, and covering them with strips of newspapers. We had to dip the strips of newspapers in glue and glue it to the balloon. Meanwhile, we ate tasty starburst candies and other chips I'd never heard of. I was also sorted that night by the sorting hat which would decide which house I was in like in the films. I took a little handwritten quiz that determined which house I would be put under. I ended up getting Gryffindor like Harry Potter, so that made me happy, ha. More people were at the club that night and they were very friendly, as well as funny.
We had a night where we were quizzed with Harry Potter questions. I didn't know what to expect, but being a big Harry Potter fan, I figured they would be easy or something I would easily get right. I was wrong. They were difficult questions and went deep into the book, like word for word lines from the book for example. I hadn't read the books in years and didn't remember anything. I realized I wasn't as big a Harry Potter fan as I thought and that these people were intense about their Harry Potter. I just like the films and books, but I don't remember every detail or specific things the way that did.
It was a different, new, and fun experience. I learned more about the books and met nice people. I'm glad I joined and enjoyed being a part of the Harry Potter Society.
